In Memoriam

Hanna Z. Mansour, 1939 - 2009

Update: The Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 2nd, 12:30pm at St. George's Anglican Church (1101 Stanley).

Today at 1:45pm, surrounded by loving family and friends, my Dad passed away peacefully at Sacré-Coeur Hospital in Montréal, at the rather young age of 70, following complications from a stroke he suffered in early November. Those of you who are close to my family probably also realized that 10 years ago - almost to the day - his wife, my mother passed away as well. The almost eerie timing of the situation has left us all with more questions than answers, but we're thankful for the time we spent with him and for all the lives he's touched in his time here. We're as grateful to him for everything he's done for us as we are saddened by his departure. He will be remembered as a good man who did good with his life to help others.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada will be greatly appreciated.

You may leave us a message below if you wish to do so (to be be published after moderation).

The Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 2nd, 12:30pm at St. George's Anglican Church (1101 Stanley).

Oh, Steve, I'm so sorry for your loss and that of your family. Of course words are meaningless in such times, but know I'm thinking about you. And just with that first picture, I can tell that he lives on in you. In many, many ways, no doubt.

Dear Family,

Our beloved brother Hanna is with Velma; his soul mate has been waiting for him.  Hanna was a great man, a wonderful husband, a loving father, and a true friend.  We will miss him but know that he is in a better place.  God embraced him with open arms as Hanna warmly welcomed others.   Our thoughts and prayers are with you dear family.

shlema baba brunah rucha qodsha. That's "In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" in Hana's native Aramaic dialect (though the transliteration is, no doubt, only approximate). Hana taught me that. He was a class act and will be greatly missed!

I am so sorry to hear about your dad's passing and I wish I could be there with you guys at this difficult time. As I sit here and stare at your mom's picture I am reminded about your parents love and dadication to one another and you the children and I can not but think of how their relationship with each other and their family has trully affected my life and shaped  me as a person. It has been said that during ones life if you are able to change for the better one persons life then you have done Gods deed on earth. I am sure that your mom is waiting for Hana at the gates of haven. I will love and miss them both for ever.

Steven-Pls call me if you need anything from me. I am here for you

Dear Steven,

Pat and I were so sad to learn of your father's death when we returned from Ghana yesterday. We regret that this trip prevented us from paying tribute to this wonderful man at his funeral at St. Georges. We send our sympathy to you and to all your family. Hanna was a very special person whom we admired greatly. Quiet, humble and kind, it was always a pleasure to interact with him. My contact with him began when we first began to attend St. Georges Church and he was organizing the sidesmen. He was invariably patient and courteous in his dealing with everyone in a roll that many of us might have found frustrating.

We shall all miss Hanna. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
